A Childhood Dream of a Slide, A Journey to Brand Entrepreneurship

In my childhood memories, happiness had the most simple shape: a bowl of hot rice, a piece of clothing without patches. In that era when material resources were not abundant, “toys” was a strange word that existed in books. Every day after school, I was accompanied by homework and housework within my ability.

However, the imagination of childhood can always break through the poverty of material. The playground of my childhood was the three-story-high hillside behind the house, which was covered with pine trees. Whenever my parents were not at home, I would take my sister and rush to the hillside behind the house, break off the most luxuriant and toughest pine branch from the pine tree, spread it on the top of the slope, and make a “skateboard” full of natural fragrance. Then, we would excitedly sit on it, take a deep breath, shout “Go!”, and then dive down from the high place against the wind. At that moment, the wind whistled in my ears, the grass and trees flew past my eyes, and my heart seemed to jump out of my chest. This original “hillside slide” gave me unparalleled, uninhibited joy in my childhood.

Of course, adventure always comes with a price. Sometimes we would lose control because of the speed and tumble down the hill, often leaving us with bruises. The more “serious” consequence was that the new holes in our clothes or pants were always exposed after we got home, and what followed might be blame or even a beating. But no “lesson” could cool our enthusiasm for that hillside. That feeling of flying from high up to the ground, that purest, most authentic joy, was enough to soothe all the pain and grievances. This was the beginning of my relationship with the “slide”.

From Factory to Dream: Pursuing the True Meaning of a Slide

Years later, after graduating from college and trying several unsatisfactory jobs, I walked into the interview room of a toy factory with a trace of confusion.

I still remember that scene clearly: in the workshop, the product on the production line was actually a slide.

At that moment, it was as if time had gone backward. The sound of the wind on the hillside, the scent of pine needles, the thrill of diving down, and the laughter of my sister behind me… all the memories came rushing in, drowning me. I didn’t feel strange, but rather a strange, homecoming-like intimacy and excitement. I fell in love with the product almost immediately. It was like a long-lost friend who I was reunited with at that moment.

During the two years in the factory, I learned everything with great enthusiasm. I touched those smooth curves and sturdy columns, and the dream on the hillside in my heart became clearer and clearer. I knew that I wanted to do more than just make slides. I wanted to create a dream carrier that could carry countless childhoods and inspire the same pure laughter.

So I made the most important decision of my life: to create my own slide brand.

Behind this decision was the boy who had been scolded for wearing pants with holes, and the regret of never having a real slide. I want to bring happiness to children all over the world, and use the safe and fun slides I create with my own hands to make up for the small gap in my childhood.

So, in 2005, kidsplayplay was born .

The Birth of Kidsplayplay

Now, every curve we design hides the arc of that hillside; every smooth surface we polish is to replace the rough pine needles of that year. We are not just making toys, we are safely delivering a piece of the most primitive freedom and happiness from the mountains and fields to every child.

Because I know that a slide may be the whole hillside in a child’s childhood. And my mission is to make this “hill” appear in every place in the world where children laugh.
